That's when one-man band sounds kickass and just awesome! Killer riffs and songwriting, feroucious vocals! Filthy Death Metal to the bone!
Favorite track: The Ethereal Deceased.
From its conception in 2015, the focus has been to push musical boundaries. Taking influence from early Amorphis and Carcass, Rottrevore and Grave and not afraid of mixing riff based death with grind, Cryptivores sound is as familiar as it is unique.
Celestial Extinctions 10 tracks sees the Cryptivore sound continue to progress and develop. Following on from the 2017 demo Unseen Divinity which was resissued in 2019 via Blood Harvest/ Dawning Septic, Celestial Extinction will be available March 2022.
"Cryptivore are keeping it old school in execution and spirit. But ‘Celestial Extinction’ has a lot more variety and dynamic shifts than you’d expect from such an effort, and that helps raise them up above a lot of the samey death metal bands that are all over the place at the moment. Definitely can recommend!" Those Once Loyal
"Delightfully rough edges take listeners back to a time when death metal was a more savage beast." 5/5 Slow Dragon Music
"Cryptivore is sincerely the most essential purchase for anyone who listens to Death Metal, Doom or anything that is dark, disgusting and raging. His voice, his musical mastership, all brings blood tears to your eyes as your internal organs melt." 5/5 Metal Epidemic
"Celestial Extinction is heavy, filthy, and very enjoyable. If you have a soft spot for old-school death metal, then look no further than Cryptivore for your next fix of the good stuff. ighly recommended." Wonderbox Metal
"There’s no real let-up from the start of the album to the finish — unless you count those slower parts in many of the songs that drag us into aural catacombs where sensations of suffering and fear choke hope to death. The result is that the album is a real rush to hear. The album itself rushes from track to track, gets your own blood rushing, and leaves hungriness for more. And there’s not a damned thing wrong with that." No Clean Singing
"Celestial Extinction combines the best of death and grind and mixes it with some pure metal and progression (think Amorphis) and creates a release that whilst at times seems familiar carries its own unique identity, an album that never outstays its welcome and is deadly in its intent. Then 10 tracks hurl you down a deathly heavy path that combines the traditional with the atmospheric to deliver a varied release that commands multiple listens." 9/10 The Coroners Report
"Celestial Extinction celebrates old school death metal in all its facets without seeming like a clone. Despite all the homage to old heroes, Cryptivore knows how to find its own and sometimes surprisingly melodic approach to the genre." 7/10 Sound magnet
"After almost 27 minutes this Death Metal fun is over. You can definitely press the repeat button, because if you're into Death Metal, you'll get along very well here and will be served completely." 7.9/10 Time For Metal
" I got into this album immediately and stayed with it all the way through, from the opening wails of “Cocoon Hecatomb” to the closing dramatic bars of the anchoring title track. Recommended." Flying Fiddlesticks Music Blog
"It is Chris's aforementioned sense of melody that keeps all those atmospheres together, even in the rougher passages. We can therefore speak of a more than successful debut." 80/100 Zware Metalen
"Everything here is based on the old school, the riffs that it includes influenced by the heavy moments of classic albums like "Symphonies Of Sickness" by Carcass, give it that brutal touch that added to the rest of the elements, make this album more than entertaining, quite apart from the fact that it has the precise duration, and with ten songs in less than thirty minutes it crushes you." Metallerium
"Those who know death metal well will surely have stumbled upon these unhealthy territories and will not find many differences with the travels of the past, but that of the Cryptivore will remain an interesting adventure from which it will be easy to come out with a glimmer of satisfaction and exhilarating pleasure." Metal Italia
"Celestial Extinctionwill surely delight lovers of old-school death who manage to be more than backward-looking. Helped in that they will be by bloody riffs, sharp drums, based on a skilful mix of blasts and devastating breaks, all embellished with fat vocals, little varied but devilishly effective." 15/20 Les Eternels
"Overall, I would call Cryptivore ’s debut album a very likable release, I’m going to keep an eye on it anyway from now on. I’m not saying it’s the most original album in the world, fed by many classics, but I hear them more as inspiration. OSDM fans should not be disappointed." 8/10 Femforgacs
"his is a great release with many well composed tracks. Each track has done memorable moments and very impressive guitar work. Listen to this release if you haven't already, it is great." 8/10 Fleshripper Magazine
"So while the sound of “Celestial Extinction” is still deeply rooted in Old School Death Metal but there is so much more to this burnt offering, the five years of hard work forging this half an hour of power have been very well spent." Metal Noise
"Hats off to Chris Anning/Cryptivore for crafting such a fine piece of death metal. Sure Celestial Extinction may not be ground breaking or genre defining, but it sure as hell is genre sustaining, and honestly, with death metal coming up on the big 4-0, I think that may just be much more necessary."
